The Lake in the Hills Sanitary District is a separate government entity that provides wastewater collection and water pollution control within the Village of Lake in the Hills. While standards for sewer system design may be found in the Lake in the Hills Subdivision Control Ordinance, sewer connection and service fees must be paid to the district.

The homeowner is responsible for the sanitary sewer service line from the house up to and including the connection to the sewer main. If you experience problems with your sewer, please contact the district first. A district employee will come to your property to determine where the problem exists.

Lake in the Hills residents are served by four school districts, which are separate from Village government.  Due to the nature of growth in the school districts, residents in the Village of Lake in the Hills are encouraged to call the appropriate District Administration Office to determine which school a child would attend.
