Ordinance Citation Payments

To avoid late fees, a violator has 21 days to pay or formally contest the citation. Failure to respond within 21 days of the citation issue date will result in the amount due will increase according to Village ordinance, if applicable.

Also, failure to respond within the required time frame after the late penalty assessment may result in an Order of Default and Judgment by Default being issued, at which time additional penalties may be imposed.

Payment of the fine and any applicable penalty is considered the final disposition of the violation.

Notice To Appear

If a Notice to Appear comment is written on your citation, you cannot pay or contest the citation. You must appear before the Administrative Hearing Officer at the specified date and time noted on your citation to respond to the charge described; fines will be determined at that time. If you fail to appear a default judgment may be taken against you in an amount allowable by Village Code. 

For all programs, events or memberships that require registration, families and individuals may register online, in-person at Village Hall, or by mail.

Registration can done in-person at Lake in the Hills Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156 Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm The 24-hour drop box located at the entrance of the Village Hall parking lot may also be used to submit registration and payment. Registrations with a fee ARE NOT accepted over the phone.

For online registration, families must have a CommunityPass household account. Household accounts may be for one or multiple household members. Once a household account has been created, you will have the ability to register and pay online for the majority of offerings.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when creating a CommunityPass account:

1. You will need a valid email address to create your household account using CommunityPass.
2. Your CommunityPass login information will be emailed to you. Keep this information—you will need it to register for future programing with the Village of Lake in the Hills.
3. When you are ready to register, follow the simple instructions found here or on the site to login, register and pay online.

   • Note: Online transactions require a credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) or to process e-checks a valid checking account.

Citations issued for violations of Village of Lake in the Hills ordinances may be contested. The citations are contested through a hearing process called Administrative Adjudication and may be completed online or in person. The Hearing Officer will review and make a determination as to the existence or non-existence of a Code violation. The determination shall be in writing and you will receive the Hearing Officer’s decision by mail.

Contest Violation In Person

Administrative Hearings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. at Village Hall; 600 Harvest Gate, Lake in the Hills. To schedule your appearance, call 847-658-5676 or if you have received a Penalty Notice, a hearing has already been scheduled for you and is listed on the notice.
