When a holiday falls on a weekday or Sunday and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday. The following is a list of observed holidays:

• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day

Flood Brothers Disposal will bill residents in advance of services on a three month cycle. Residents that are part of a homeowners association will continue to be billed through their homeowners association. Please contact Flood Brothers Disposal with billing questions at 630-261-0578. • Solid Waste Services Rates: July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025

Flood Brothers Disposal offers yard waste collection from April 1 through November 30 each year. All materials must be contained in either a 30 gallon biodegradable paper bag or a standard 35 gallon reusable metal or plastic garbage container identified as "Yard Waste Only" weighing less than 60lbs.

"Yard Waste Only" stickers are available at Village Hall (600 Harvest Gate) or the Public Works Facility (9010 Haligus Road) and are free of charge.

Landscape waste, including brush and other branches four (4) inches or less in diameter, too bulky for placement into paper bags or cans may be securely tied with biodegradable string or twine, in bundles not exceeding four (4) feet in length and sixty (60) pounds in weight.

Residents may place bulk items out for collection on the same day as their regularly scheduled pickup. One item per week will be collected at no charge, but residents should always call in advance to confirm if their item is eligible for free collection. Items ineligible for free collection, or more than one item, can still be collected but a separate fee may apply. 

Examples of bulk items include: furniture, bathroom fixtures, large toys, bikes, exercise equipment, carpet (rolls must be 4 feet in length or less and securely tied), swing sets (must be cut into sections 4 feet in length or less), small outdoor appliances (all fluids must be completely removed), barbecue grills, etc.

Wondering how you can recycle electronics in Lake in the Hills?

Since 2017, the Village has offered curbside electronics recycling to its residents through its solid waste services contractor, Flood Brothers.

Approved electronics, batteries, and florescent light bulbs will be collected free of charge on the third full week of every other month. To participate in the electronics recycling program, residents should call Flood Brothers Disposal at 630-261-0578 to check that their items are eligible and to schedule them for pick up. Then, place items for electronics recycling at your curb on your regularly scheduled pick up day. Electronics will be collected curbside the following weeks:

• The week of June 17, 2024
• The week of August 19, 2024
• The week of October 21, 2024
• The week of December 15, 2024
• The week of February 17, 2025
• The week of June 16, 2025

Please contact Flood Brothers at 630-261-0578 to confirm that your electronic item is eligible for the electronics recycling program and to schedule it for collection. Items will not be picked up without a confirmation call.

Flood Brothers Disposal offers a voluntary food scrap composting program to single-family residences throughout the Village during the yard waste collection season, April 1 through November 30. Residents who enroll in this program will have the ability to mix food scraps with yard waste by placing food scraps (fruit and vegetable scraps, etc.) at the curb in a rigid and lidded container, or in a rented Flood Brothers 95-gallon yard waste cart (arranged directly through Flood Brothers for an extra $1.50/month).

The program will be available to all single-family residences at no additional cost, unless they choose to rent a Flood Brothers yard waste cart.
