The intent of the Woods Creek Reach 11 Restoration Project is to stabilize 5,226 linear feet of streambank. The project will also restore 22 acres of wetland adjacent to the creek to native conditions. Reach 11 is located behind the residences along Starwood Pass, Polaris Drive, and Harvest Gate.
The project will begin on August 1, 2022 with conclusion of earthwork and creek improvements expected by December 31, 2022. Full project completion is scheduled for May 31, 2023 with final seeding and plant installation. The scope of work will include the removal of non-native vegetation, streambank restoration and stabilization, tree removal, and seeding of native vegetation.
The restoration will serve to improve water quality, green infrastructure, wildlife, and pollinator habitat and provide opportunities for recreation and educational outreach.

Two open house meetings will be held to discuss the project in more detail. They are scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, 2022 and Thursday, June 30, 2022. Both open house events will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lake in the Hills Village Hall, located at 600 Harvest Gate. All are invited to come and learn more about the Woods Creek Reach 11 Restoration Project.
Updates
March 30, 2023: V3 companies will be conducting a prescribed burn at the Reach 11 Open Space along Harvest Gate and Polaris Drive.
September 20, 2022: The contractor V3 has completed the tree removal and grubbing operations. They are currently working on the stream bank stabilization, starting at the east end proceeding to the west. They have completed a portion of the creek line stabilization and realignment. Weather permitting; they expect to complete the stream bank work by mid-October, followed by the compensatory storage work.
Public Right-of-Way
Please note, all work will occur within Village-owned property. Any existing non-Village owned features that are located within the Village property (i.e. sprinkler systems, landscape features, fire pits, dog fences, or other items that are privately owned and maintained) should be removed from the area to prevent damage during construction. The Village will not repair or replace any private property damaged during construction if left within the Village-owned parcel.
