Polar Plunge

The LITH PD Polar Plunge Team is ready to take to the icy cold water again this year in support of the incredible and inspirational athletes of the Special Olympics Illinois.  On Sunday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. What is the Polar Plunge? The Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support Special Olympics athletes by taking icy dips into Illinois waters.

You can also donate to support Special Olympics Illinois by supporting the LITH PD plunge team! Click on the link below, go to the "Roster" tab, pick any of the team members and place a donate there.  All donations go to the team total and go directly to the Special Olympics Illinois.

Cop on a Rooftop

We cannot wait to see our community out at Dunkin' (280 N. Randall Road) on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 5:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to support Special Olympics Illinois athletes during our annual Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser. This event is held in partnership with the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. 

Visitors to participating Dunkin' stores who donate to the Torch Run will receive a coupon for a free donut. Additional merchandise will be available while supplies last for varying donation amounts.  For example, patrons that donated $10 or more received a Law Enforcement Torch Run/ Dunkin’ brand travel mug (while supplies lasted) $15 donation will get you a Law Enforcement Torch Run/ Dunkin’ brand hat (while supplies lasted) and $20 donation will get you a Law Enforcement Torch Run/ Dunkin’ brand t-shirt (while supplies lasted) - and all will have a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.

Torch Run

Members of the Lake in the Hills Police Department volunteer yearly to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the single largest fundraising event benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. This annual intrastate relay fundraiser is conducted by officers across the state, from local police to FBI agents. This event not only raises funds, but increases awareness for the athletes who participate in Special Olympics Illinois. Officers who participate in this event agree to raise funds for Special Olympics Illinois and also agree to carry the Flame of Hope to its final destination of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games.

 The Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run Intrastate Relay will be held June 1-7, 2024 and conclude with the Final Leg being held on Friday, June 7, 2024 in conjunction with the 2024 Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games Opening Ceremony.
