Proper licensing is required in order to engage in the business of operating a public passenger vehicle in the Village. This includes obtaining a Passenger Vehicle Company License, a Public Passenger Vehicle License and a Chauffeur’s License. The licenses will expire annually on December 31. The fees are $100.00 for each Passenger Vehicle Company or owner, $10.00 for each Public Passenger Vehicle and $10.00 for each Chauffeur's License, all of which must be submitted at the time of application.
All Passenger Vehicle Company License applicants and their Chauffeurs are reviewed by the Police Department. The application review includes a Background Check, which costs $50.00 per individual and may take from four to six weeks.
Passenger Vehicle Company License
A license is required in order to maintain a business of operating public passenger vehicles, including a dispatch office, in the Village. An application must be submitted to the attention of the Deputy Clerk at the address below.

Along with the application, a copy of the current rate card must be provided, a copy of each listed chauffeur's State issued driver's license, copies of the corresponding Chauffeur's License applications, copies of each Public Passenger Vehicle application and evidence of insurance coverage.
Public Passenger Vehicle License
A license must be obtained for each Public Passenger Vehicle operating within the Village. An application must be submitted by the Passenger Vehicle Company to the attention of the Deputy Clerk at the address below.

Tags or stickers will be issued for each public passenger vehicle being licensed, which will need to be displayed in a prominent place on the vehicle while it is in use. Each public passenger vehicle shall also have a driver’s identification card, including a picture of the driver, prominently displayed so that it is clearly visible to the passengers.
While in operation, each vehicle is required to display the name of the licensee operating it on each side. If more than one taxicab is operated by a licensee, each vehicle shall be designated by a different number, and such number also shall so appear on each side of the vehicle.
Each public passenger vehicle must meet all the requirements of the Illinois Taxi Safety Act of 2007 and be inspected at an official Illinois Department of Transportation certified safety testing station at least on an annual basis. As part of the application, the Village requires a certificate of safety indicating that the vehicle is in a safe mechanical condition.
Chauffeur’s License
A license must be obtained for each Chauffeur operating within the Village. An application must be submitted by the Passenger Vehicle Company to the attention of the Deputy Clerk at the address below.

Chauffeurs must be properly licensed by the State of Illinois and must obey all traffic rules established by statute or ordinance.
