Village of Lake in the Hills
Home MenuA retail liquor license is required to sell or offer for sale at retail any alcoholic liquor in the Village. All Liquor License requests are handled by the Village Liquor Commissioner, who is also the Village President. The Village President’s office must be contacted at 847-960-7400 to obtain information about the process.
There are four types of Liquor Licenses, a daily permit, an event permit, an auxiliary license, and an annual liquor license.
Annual Liquor Licenses
A new annual liquor license must start out with the submission of an application to the Liquor Commissioner. All application requirements contained in Chapter 33 of the Lake in the Hills Municipal Code must be followed. Send applications to Nancy Sujet, Administrative Specialist II, at the address below.

Current Liquor License renewals must be completed by March 15th each year.
Liquor license applicants and their managers are reviewed by the Police Department. The application review includes a background check, which is an additional fee, and may take from four to six weeks to process. Please call 847-960-7400 for the most current background check fee amount. Inaccurate, incomplete, and questionable answers will lead to delays and may impact the approval of the application. Manager changes at liquor license establishments must be registered with the Village Liquor Commissioner. Failure to have any new or different General Manager registered may place the liquor license in jeopardy.
