All Illinois residents are invited to bring their unused paint, chemicals, and other hazardous waste for disposal to 10910 Reed Road in Lake in the Hills from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. The collection event will be hosted by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).
Representatives will accept oil-based paint thinner, aerosol paint cleaning products, insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, mercury, gasoline, anti-freeze, used motor oil, fluorescent light bulbs, old and expired medications, and household batteries. They will not accept explosives, fireworks, ammunition, fire extinguishers, needles, farm oil, agricultural chemicals, propane tanks, smoke detectors, lead batteries, or controlled substances.
