Ice Rinks Now Open! The Village has two ice rinks in the community that are now open and ready for skating. They are located in the basketball courts at each of the following parks: Stoneybrook Park, 617 Anderson Drive and Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road. They are open from sunrise to sunset. Both ice rinks are for skating only. Hockey or other games are not allowed. Picnic benches are available for skate changing and resting. The flag pole onsite at each location indicates the current ice conditions. A red flag on the pole indicates that the ice conditions are poor and the rink is closed. No flag indicates the rink is open. |

Digital Television Transition Television broadcasting is moving from an old standard – known as “analog” – to a new standard, called “digital.” After February 17, 2009, all television broadcasts will be digital and all analog televisions getting programming “over the air” through an antenna will need to be plugged into a special television converter to receive digital broadcasts. Although February 2009 might sound like a long way off, it’s not too early to start preparing. Click below to view a brochure on the subject from the US Department of Commerce.

Christmas Tree Removal
Snow Removal
The Public Works crews have been working long hours to keep the roads clear. To keep costs (and taxes) under control, crews are applying salt more sparingly than in the past. Cost control is essential since the price of salt went up 320% this year. This situation makes it even more important that people not push or throw snow back into the street. When snow is thrown back into the street, it is either plowed back to the edge of the road or it will overload the ability of the salt to melt it and will eventually pack down to ice.
If you use a snow thrower, work from the street back toward your home. This way you can throw the snow into your front yard rather than just having it pile up in the parkway. Public Works also appreciates the concerns you raise about snow at the end of your driveway. The plowing crews do not intentionally try to bury your driveway. The snow from the street has to go somewhere. It ends up along the edge of the street, and unfortunately, some of that snow will end up at the end of your driveway.
If you have questions or concerns, please call Public Works at 847-960-7500 and we will try to help you.
